When symptoms require intensive management beyond what can be provided at home, or when family caregivers need temporary relief, Serene Hospice coordinates short-term inpatient care at a contracted skilled nursing facility.
Inpatient care is available in two forms: General Inpatient Care (GIP) for acute pain or symptom crises that require inpatient-level clinical management, and Respite Care which gives family caregivers a planned break of up to 5 consecutive days while the patient receives safe, professional care.
All services are provided at no cost under the Medicare and Medi-Cal hospice benefit. Serene Hospice never denies care based on ability to pay.
